Ingredients
3 tsp ground cinnamon
1.5 tsp ground nutmeg
1.5 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp marshmallow root
1 tsp honey
1 tbsp water
Instructions
Add the cinnamon & nutmeg in a bowl and stir.
Grind the cloves with a mortar & pestle or use an old coffee grinder. Measure 1.5 tsp and mix it into the bowl.
Add the marshmallow root.
Slowly add the water, stirring as you go.
Finally, add the honey and combine well.
*The mixture should hold together well enough to shape the cones.
Shaping the cones
Put the incense mix inside a small piping cone, packing it in. (Make sure your piping cone is flat on the inside. It will make popping them out easier.
Taking a toothpick, make a hole in the center of the cone. (This helps the cone to burn better)
Tap the piping cone hard onto a flat surface a few times. This will allow it to loosen up the sides.
Taking a toothpick, push the incense cone out of the piping cone.
Repeat until all incense mix is used.
* You may also mold them by hand but they may be smaller.
Drying the cones
The best way to dry your cones is to play them in direct sunlight for at least two days. You can do this by placing them by a window that gets direct sunlight. After a few days, place them into an airtight container. This step is important! If it's not in a closed container, it will attract water and the cone won't burn as readily.
